Good News for Golf in Murcia

General

In a recent article in “Eat Golf” it was interesting to read that when golf was introduced as a new culture in a region, there seems to follow an accumulation of wealth in the community as the Costa del Sol, Portugal and many parts of Scotland can lay confirmation to.

It follows on to state that there is further proof that Murcia, with a golf-friendly climate, wonderful coastline and miles of beaches, two local airports in San Javier and Alicante, with many golf courses established and many more on the way, that there could be an opportunity to bring more people to the region to enjoy golf.

The PGA’s of Europe Annula Conference in Murcia from November 25-28 will be using ” the benefits of golf to society” as their main focus.

The International Team championship is at Roda and the Presidents challenge match is at Lo Romero, two popular courses Clydegrove Golf Spain work in partnership with, to bring more golfers to the area. If the PGA brings the championship games to this area, moving from the Costa de Sol, what a coup that would be.

I believe there would be many who agree that this would be a great benefit to all the golf related tourism in our area from hotels, apartments, pro shops, taxis companies, restaurants and bars in a time when the grumpy ones would say “times are hard”  it is recognised in this region that golf more than any other activity will transform the economy.
