As many of you will be aware, our service includes Steven accompanying our golf parties when they arrive at the golf courses, liaising with the caddy master and making sure everything is organised before the golfers get to the golf course.
While they are there he meets many different golfers from all over the world and promotes our services at Clydegrove Golf Spain .
Recently he came across 14 lads from Manchester at La Finca golf course and got chatting to them as they were awaiting a tee time. They told him a very distressing story of how they had made three golf course reservations through an internet golf website and were advised they would receive their golf course vouchers once they had paid online.
As time drew near to their departure date from the UK they chased the vouchers up with no joy.
As they were making no progress they then took the next step to inform their online payment system company and raised a dispute as they had paid in full for the booking in advance.
The internet golf booking company then got in touch with them and said they would send the vouchers could they please CLOSE the dispute, once they got their vouchers they did this.
So all these hard working guys sent off to the Costa Blanca for a weeks golfing and arrive at La Finca on a fine sunny day for their golf. -They found that there was -No golf booked ! the vouchers were worthless!
La Finca staff were a great help and booked them on there at a greatly reduced price because they recognised they had lost their money. They were also meant to be booked at their sister golf course at Villamartin again where again no booking had been made.
Steven asked how he could help and we managed to book them onto Lo Romero and then Steven met them a couple of days later and showed them around the course, sorted out their buggies .
He explained to them that we operate quite differently from many online agents as we do not take any money at Clydegrove Golf Spain other than a 10 euro per person deposit when they place the booking with the full balance due on arrival in Spain.
Initially when this happened the golfers were obviously disgusted with what had happened to them and voiced their concern that they would again be “conned” and swore they would not be back to the area.
We can only hope that they can resolve this situation made by the on line golf booking agency and when they do return they have at least met a genuine company with an experienced golfer who knows the golf courses and lives in the area, who is on site to help with any problems.
We have since been informed that the company are refusing to discuss this situation further and no refund is forthcoming.
This particular event raises a cautionary message, if you do use a new site to book your golf please find out who has used them before and be very aware this could happen to any of us .
The purpose of telling everyone about this is to raise awareness as disreputable golf internet agents should not get away with this and we hope it helps anyone who may find themselves in a similar situation.
If anyone would like more information about this please email me on info@clydegrovegolfspain.com as I cannot for legal reasons divulge the web address or anything else publically.
In over 5 years of dealing with Golf Parties in the Costa Blanca, Clydegrove Golf Spain have never requested full payment in advance or had a Golf party turn up at a golf course where they were unable to play due to the booking not being processed.
