I was sent a copy of this article from a from a friend recently after talking about whether to buy here in Spain or continue to rent until we see which way the market goes. My father bought a two bed townhouse in an urbanisation called Mar Azul very close to a small town called Torrevieja in the late 80′s when there wasn’t much around this area at all for the princely sum of £10,000.We watched over the years as these house prices rose disportionately to what we believed the house to be worth( we sold it years ago).
In the article from Deal Hunter Spain “It is no secret that the Spanish property market has taken quite a hit over the last few years taking with it the scalp of many ‘just too late’ small investors who tried to ride the wave of success that Spain has lived on for the last 10 years.
Many of the newest and indeed biggest projects were high end top quality Golfing Resorts in and around the Coast of Spain where it seemed everyone wanted a piece of the action. With the up front investment required to grow such projects with the additional infrastructure costs to maintain the on site commercial interests and leisure facilities, not to mention the Golf courses themselves it is little wonder that many of those who invested in Golf property have taken a big hit.
However with recent tales of a marked improvement in sales and record numbers of enquiries being lodged with agents and developers it could mean that 2010 could just possibly be the year that we finally started to turn the corner ?
One of the main reasons for the sudden interest in Spanish property again is without doubt the massive reduction in prices. There has been a real adjustment in the market and a definite mind set change with many developers realising the only way to really gather pace in the sales department is by reducing prices …. And so they have.
A perfect example of the current market place was evident only this week When they received a call from a large developer asking if they would like to market their last remaining units of ‘Key -Ready 2 Bed 2 Bath Golf Apartments and Bungalows’ discounted down to just 99.000€ ! Even at today’s rate of 1.15 Euro to the pound that’s amazing price of just £86.000 sterling!
Those with a healthier budget will be interested in the splendid option of a ‘Key-Ready 3 Bed 2 Bath Detached Golf Villa on a 336m2 Plot’ at the 5star Resort of La Finca Golf where prices have just been slashed from 315.000€ down to just 229.000€ or just £199.000 sterling!
They can now offer Apartments on or next to the four best golfing developments in the Murcia and Alicante region Villamartin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor and La Finca Golf.Just one of many examples that they have come across recently and as mentioned it is certainly wouldn’t surprise anyone if it became the catalyst to busier sales offices along this beautiful piece of the Mediterranean.”
