Its difficult to believe that only a few days ago we had golfers forced to cancel their golf trip and tee times because they were stranded in the UK. Today we are bombarded with other news, latest being GB gaff on the mike – the ash is yesterdays news as the volcano reduces its emissions.
The great news about this situation for us and golf tour operators, is that we have been given a second chance as many of the golfers have re-booked for later in the year.
Some only a week later, some a month and others few months later so it all very positive for golfing in Spain- and we thank you for this.
The volcanic ash clogged up British air space more that 50,000 smokers from Glasgow could do and threw us into a bit of turmoil. No one quite knew what to do other than stop all flights for safety reasons.
I cannot disagree with that stance but the information coming from some officials was inaccurate and caused a mass migration to Madrid to get home on phantom coaches and as for the “rapid response ” teams 5 days later say no more.
However we are extremely grateful for the understanding from the management at the Spanish golf courses and waiving any cancellation charges.
