Campoamor

Campoamor Golf CourseThis golf course is a Par 72 and at 6346 metres is a long one. There are five par fives all over 490 metres, so hit the ball long and straight and make birdies. Also this great golf course is in the best condition its ever been in. Well worth a visit.

Hollow tining 13/14 September 2010
The say that putting surface within 3 days, putting quality will be ensured.

Hole 1 Par 5, 491 Metres,
The opening hole at Campoamor is a good par 5 to start with. From the tee the fairway slops from right to left so keep your drive down the
right side of the fairway as it will kick back into the middle left. Your line from the tee is the big palm tree on the right. As its a long hole you
should place your second shot down the middle left to give you a good wedge shot to this large green. Watch out for the two fairways
bunkers, left and right short of the green. This green slops from right to left and is protected by two bunkers left and one front right and one back right. If your second shot is up the right side it will make it difficult to attack the pin. This hole offers a good opening birdie chance.
Hole 2 Par 4, 340 Metres,
Cross the road and onto the second tee. This is a driver or three wood from the tee its a straight hole with little trouble on it. With a good drive away its only a short iron for your second shot. This green is protected by three bunkers down the left side and one front right there are also trees through the back of the green so don’t go long. This green is large and quite flat so be bold and have a go at the pin and make birdie or an easy par.
Hole 3 Par 4, 361 Metres,
This is a good golfing hole and you play from an elevated tee down the slop before you climb the hill to this green. From the tee its your driver and any where on the fairway is good. This hole is lined with trees both sides and there is one bunker down the left side of the fairway that does come into play from the tee. Your best line into the green is from middle right. This green is another large one protected by bunkers round all sides. For your second shot it should be a medium iron but as its all uphill to the green your second shot plays longer than it looks.
Hole 4 Par 3, 201 Metres,
From an elevated tee you look down onto the green at this long par 3. Its a long iron or rescue club from the tee, a good solid strike will find the green. The green is yet another large one slopping from right to left and can be very fast to putt on if your above the hole. Watch out for the many deep bunkers surrounding the green.
Hole 5 Par4, 404 Metres,
This is a cracking par four and one of the hardest to hit in two shots. From the tee it dog legs to the right and there is out off bounds down the right side all the way to the green. The fairway turns sharp right at about 200 metres from the tee and it also slops severely from right to left just on the dog leg kicking your ball down the slop to the left and into the semi-rough. From the tee its your driver and the best line for the brave is just inside the tree on the dog leg. Your second shot will be a medium to long iron depending on the position of your tee shot. The best line for your second shot is at the tall palm tree about 50 metres short of the green. Watch out for the two bunkers left and the other
one short right side of the green. A four here is as good as a birdie.
Hole 6 Par 3, 160 Metres,
This short par three runs up the side of a canal and offers a good chance to make an easy par and keep your score going. From the tee its a medium to short iron. There is out of bounds up the right side from tee to green. Watch out for the bunkers on both sides of this large flat green.
Hole 7 Par 5, 514 Metres,
Now for the longest and one of the toughest holes on the course. From the tee this hole plays as a dog leg left with trees and out of bounds all the way up the right side of the fairway to the green. The first part of the fairway slops from right to left, then downhill to a dry ditch that runs down the left side of the fairway then across the fairway to the right side. From the tee the best club to use is a three wood as with a driver the dry ditch comes into play. The best line from the tee is up the right side as the ball will kick back to the middle of the fairway. Your second shot is up hill towards the green, try and avoid the fairway bunker to the left side of the fairway about 100 metres short of the green. Your
third shot should only be a short iron, watch out for the two bunkers right side of the green and one short left. This green slops from back to front and can be very fast to putt on. A birdie at this hole is a great score.
Hole 8 Par 4, 353 Metres,
This is yet another great golfing hole, from the tee the hole is straight but the fairway slops from right to left so the best line is down the right side as there is plenty of room out there, any thing down the middle will take a kick to the left and you could get blocked out by trees for your second shot. There is a dry ditch that runs up the left side of the fairway and it continues its way across the fairway and round the right side off the green. This green is protected by bunkers up the left side of the green and to the right side there is a steep slop what will take your ball down into the ditch. Your second shot should be a medium short iron up to an elevated, long and narrow green. This green slops from
back to front and a par is good at this hole.
Hole 9 Par 4, 407 Metres,
Now for the toughest hole on the course at stroke index 1 on the card. From an elevated tee this hole plays as a dog leg to the left with trees and out of bounds running up the right hand side of the fairway. If you go with your driver here the cross dry ditch could come into play for the longer hitters out there so beware. If you come up short of the ditch its a rescue club or long iron up to an elevated green. The green is large and slops from back to front and is also protected by many bunkers both right and left.
Now for the back nine, walk across the road and down the hill to the tenth tee.

Hole 10 Par 3, 200 Metres,
From the tenth tee the views over some of the back nine are stunning on this great golf course.
This is a tough but great long par three. From an elevated tee to an elevated green club selection is all important here. There is a fairway as
such that dips down hill then back up to the green. The green is protected by two bunkers front left and one front right, don’t go long as there is a steep bank that could land you in trouble and make it very difficult to get up and down for par. This is a large soft green and slops from
back to front and from left to right so par here is good.
Hole 11 Par 4, 304 Metres,
There is two ways to play this hole the first being straight down the middle with a long iron or rescue club as it plays as a sharp dog leg to the right. The other being a high risk shot from the tee. This fairway is a wide one lined with palm trees to the left and after your tee shot you are only left with a short iron up to an elevated green. If you decide to take the high risk shot on from the tee its about a 4 or 5 iron shot to the green. Your line for this shot is about twenty metres up the steep tree lined bank and you cant see the green from the tee. If you have a bit of luck with your tee shot and miss all the bunkers you will have an eagle chance at this hole. The green is large and flat but also surrounded with bunkers.
Hole 12 Par 5, 490 Metres,
This hole is stroke index two on the score card, its not to difficult but it is a long slogg up hill and the fairway slops from right to left. Played as a long par 5 you need driver from the tee, the best line is right of centre as your ball will kick to the left. Second shot long fairway wood or iron  to get into position for your approach shot to the pin. This is a deep green slopping from back to front and protected with a bunker to the right side of the green.
Hole 13 Par 4, 392 Metres,
Yet another great looking golf hole, its long but plays quite short as its downhill most of the way. The first part of the fairway is quite  narrow, with trees both sides but it widens up at about 200 metres from the tee. The best line from the tee is on the big tree in the middle of the fairway, once past this your ball will roll down the hill and give you a shorter second shot to the green. For your second shot club selection is all important as you play up hill to the green. There are two fairway bunkers short middle up to the green and there are two left green side and one front right green side. This hole offers a good chance to make easy par or hole a putt and make birdie.
Hole 14 Par 4, 374 Metres,
From the tee this hole plays uphill and dog legs to the right before the fairway levels out then runs down to the green. The line from the tee is middle right but don’t go to long as you could run out of fairway and end up in trees on the left. The line for your second shot is just inside the bunker to the right side of the green as the second part of this fairway kicks the ball to the left and down the slop towards the 15 tee. There is one other bunkers front left green side. A good crisp second shot should hold the green, don’t go long as your ball will run down the slop at the back of the green.
Hole 15 Par 3, 197 Metres,
This short hole is all about club selection. Choose the correct club make a good swing and hit your ball onto the putting surface. Only thing to watch out for here is the green side bunkers to the left and right. There is plenty of room out to the right if you miss the green.
Hole 16 Par 5, 506 Metres,
This par 5 plays as a dog leg to the left, the first part of the fairway slops downhill and from right to left. This hole is a long one although it plays quite short for a par 5. It is also lined with trees on both sides of the fairway. The ideal shot from the tee is a well hit three wood down the right side of the fairway with a draw on it as this will help kick the ball round the corner and down the hill. If you us your driver here you could run out of fairway on the right and be in trees and blocked out from the green. The second shot is all up hill with out of bounds and trees to the right and trees to the left. This green is long and well protected by bunkers front right and left with a further bunker to the back
right. To avoid all the trouble on this quite tight second shot you could play up with a medium iron then attack the pin with a wedge for your third shot and have a good chance to make birdie at this hole.
Hole 17 Par 3, 161 Metres,
This is a stunning par three and a must to hit the green to make par. From an elevated tee you have to carry the ball over a gorge filled with trees and up to the green. The green has bunkers front left and right and one more to the back right, there is also out of bounds to the right side of the green. Choosing the correct club here is very important as there is trouble every where on this short but testing par three.
Hole 18 Par 5, 491 Metres,
Now for the final hole and its a good par 5 to finish with. This hole plays every bit of its 491 metres as its all uphill and although its a straight hole the fairway slops from right to left. From the tee watch out for the bunker up the right side of the fairway as it can come into play and makes it imposable to hit the green in two if you land in it. The fairway is lined with trees up the right side all the way to the green. So its a good drive from the tee and then a three wood second shot, this should leave you with a short iron up to the green. There are two greens on this final hole so take a good look to see which one is in play on the day. The only thing to watch out for with your third shot is the two very
deep bunkers cut into the front left side of this large elevated green
