La Tercia golf course only opened its doors to the public in November 2008 so it’s a very new 9 hole golf course with the only Aquatic driving range in the region and well worth a visit. The greens at this course are as good as you will find on any golf course around the world, all year long.
Hole 1, 394 Metres Par 4,
The Tee for the first hole is found near the putting green from where you have a beautiful panoramic view of the golf course. It is a straight hole without bunkers on the fairway but has out of bounds on the left, and on the right the aquatic driving range is found.
The entrance to the green is protected on the left by undulations of rough which hinders the approach. The major difficulty of this hole is the distance because medium handicap players will have more than 160 metres left for the second shot, which compensates for the lack of bunkers protecting the green.
Hole 2, 180 Metres Par 3,
This hole appears inoffensive, it has a bunker which protects the entrance to the green on the right, penalizing a short shot, it has no out of bounds and all its difficulty is on the green with its large dimensions and slopes, the player will need to calculate and choose the correct club depending on the flag position to avoid three putting.
Hole 3, 571 Metres Par 5,
The line of this hole is totally straight, containing out of bounds on the left and water hazards on the right throughout the hole, the fairway is wide and compensates for player error. In the middle of the fairway two olive trees are found that can help the player in directing the drive, the landing of the ball is protected by a shallow bunker which permits the player to execute a good second approach shot. The green is protected by a small bunker situated on the left of the entrance which is not very visible in your third shot. This green has two levels and you have to take into account the slope up to this green and club choice is all important.
Hole 4, 109 Metres Par 3,
This is a short hole but challenging, the player needs to have the ability to avoid the lake in front and the bunker which is behind the green. The green is narrow and elongated and the player must elevate the ball and be able to stop it as soon as possible.
Hole 5, 484 Metres Par 5,
A straight hole, it has out of bounds on the left and a lateral water hazard on the right. The landing area is protected by a bunker on the left hand side. It is not a very long hole and the fairway is of average width, the green is very narrow and elongated. The big hitters can reach in two shots, demanding a lot of precision to achieve a birdie.
Hole 6, 294 Metres Par 4,
This presents a small dog leg towards the left, where there is a rising slope with out of bounds at the top, to the right there is water along the whole length of the hole. The green is normal in dimension but presents a very pronounced back level. The fairway is wide at the start so an iron can be played from the tee.
If you use a driver from the tee you can utilise the left where the slope facilitates the ball in rolling towards the narrowest part of the fairway, putting choice for a much shorter club for the second shot.
Hole 7, 205 Metres Par 3,
It is considerably long for a par 3, before the green there are undulations of rough which penalise short shots. It has two bunkers to the entrance that you need to fly over to reach the right hand side of the green; there are platform levels where the player will have to work a little bit harder to score a par at this hole.
Hole 8, 507 Metres Par 5,
Along the two returning dynamic holes they have out of bounds on the left and lateral water hazards on the right from the tee shot, after there is a platform beyond from where we can attack the green always taking into account the two lakes that protect this large slopping green. Its character is in the simplicity of your putt.
If you want to take a risk and fly the lakes you can reach this green in two shots, the best option is to utilise the left hand side where the approach is made much easies in three shots for most players.
Hole 9, 298 Metres Par 4,
Possibly the most beautiful hole on the golf course, its natural ponds, its vegetation and the club house in the background offers a landscape of an English type links characteristic. It has a dog leg towards the right and a bunker on the right, the green is surrounded by three bunkers. This hole clearly offers two options of playing, brave players can reach the green from the Tee avoiding the water hazard and the bunkers in front of the green. The more conservative players can place the ball firstly in the fairway, and then reach the green with a shorter iron.
Facilities include,
Aquatic driving range, Buggy hire, Club House, Pro Shop, Bar restaurant and sun terrace.
