Welcome to the 15th edition of the Golf4uAlicante newsletter.
My friends in the UK are very bored now (read envious) that I keep telling them about the fantastic temperatures we have enjoyed out in this region in Autumn/Winter.
Whilst we watch television from the UK and see the rain and storms from our homeland in Scotland ,we are slapping on more factor 8, as one friend said the only factor they are concerned with at the moment is the X Factor and the less said about that the better!
Golfing season 2010
The enquiries and bookings for 2010 have been coming in steadily and some of our parties have been a little disappointed not to be able to get the tee times they would have preferred this early in the booking process.
The indication is that next year there will be increasingly more golfers heading to our beautiful courses to enjoy reasonably priced golf in warm and sunny weather. If you have asked for a quote and are ready to book it is never too early- please do not miss out by delaying making your booking.
Remember: If you get a quote elsewhere, please give us a chance to match or beat the quote as "you can trust us to deliver"- just check out our feedback from our previous clients.
Vistabella Golf Course - nice!
Steven and I went out to visit Pablo Riestra - General Manager( formerly from Roda) at Vistabella Golf Course on Wednesday 18th November. After a warm welcome he gave us a show round of the course.
The golf course currently consists of only 11 holes due a complication over planning approval with the existing holes being under the planning control of Orihuela and the other 7 holes being under the planning control of Jacarilla and which will not now be finished for approx 18 months.
Currently our golfers have to play the opening 9 holes and then holes 10 and 11 are the additional holes with the round being completed by playing the 7 holes of the opening 9 holes again but hopefully from different tees than the first time around.
Manuel Pinero ex Ryder Cup winner and this course designer has made a wonderful job of this course making the most of the natural terrain while keeping water to a minuimum ( unlike La Serena) with well placed bunkers and waste areas the course is "muy bonito" and you can see for miles as the land is so flat.
Steven is playing there on Thursday 19th November, please watch out for golf course review coming soon on our web site.
Luxury at La Manga
La Manga have been going through a bit of change recently, however the Resort still remains synonymous with luxury and if the credit crunch has not hit you you would have a very enjoyable time there.
La Manga Las Lomas Village is on Spain’s Mediterranean side, which offers three courses and was voted Europe’s top golf resort twice in the past five years. The three courses are quite different, and between them are representative of all that Spain has to offer.
The ladies wouldn’t be left out, either. There’s a Spa and Fitness center, swimming pools, and nearby shops, restaurants. Nearby are beaches along the Manga del Mar Menor, a strait that separates the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor (a saltwater lagoon.). It’s miles long, and both sides have usable beaches.

Christmas Golfing Gifts
Well ,I don't know about you but as you are a golfer friends and family often buy a "golf related Christmas gift" it can be very difficult shopping for presents for the men who have it all at the best of times! I also find with my husband Steven he has most golf wear, equipment he wants so leaves me in a quandary every year. He has dozens of golfing "stuff" golf club head covers, shoe bags, shorts, polo shirts, socks, ball cleaners and I despair every year what shall I get him.
So looking on all the "golfy" web sites, I come across a bag for his balls shaped like -yes you guessed it, golf ball cufflinks (who wears cufflinks these days?) golf ball ice tray, golf ball mongrammer, toilet humour books and more and more.
In the end I decided it was too difficult - he will end up with a selection box bah humbug!
