 Golf4uAlicante April 2010 Newsletter
====================================

Welcome to the 4th edition of 2010 Golf4uAlicante newsletter.

The newsletter was all ready to be sent out to our golfers when a
volcano in Iceland changed all that. From a purely personal
viewpoint, we can understand the frustration for the golfers who
have saved all year and looked forward to a few days golfing in
the sun to have this all scuppered by this geological disaster.

The good news is that speaking to hotel and golf course
management and golf tour folk like ourselves everyone is doing
what they can to try and help minimise any losses by assisting in
rebooking the golf trip for a later date.

There will be many businesses that have lost considerable
earnings during this catastrophe in April and may not be able to
recoup them. We trust that things will improve soon.

We are convinced that the attraction of warm days playing golf in
the sunshine on some excellent golf courses will bring these
golfers back sooner rather than later - it would take a lot more
than a little bit of ash cloud to put a golfer off his golf!

A gentle reminder that if you have asked for a quote and you wish
to secure the tee times you want in high season, its first come
first served,so please confirm your golf booking as soon as you
can to get the tee time you want.

We are also pleased to add a few more snapshots of some happy
golfers check out Gallery 5.

Load of Balls
=============
The orginal golf ball was made of wood. Thankfully we have come a
long way since then and in our recent blog we pass on some
information from the experts.

Many people are unsure which is the best ball to help them win
their game on the golf course. We have taken from some experts in
the field the following recommendations are from beginners to
single handicappers. Please read our blog for more.

Mickelson coming to Scottish Open
=================================
GREEN Jacket hero Phil Mickelson has vowed to be back at the
Barclays Scottish Open this summer after admitting he was sorry
to miss out last year.

The Masters champion is the first and the biggest name to sign up
to the Loch Lomond showdown from July 8-11 and his return promises
to be a huge boost for fans across Scotland.

They can now look forward to seeing the three-times Augusta winner
up close for two weeks running on the Bonnie Banks and then at St.
Andrews when Lefty bids for The Open that has so far proved elusive,
despite his impressive haul of four major titles.

It will be his first appearance in Europe for two years and he
admitted he's delighted to be able to return to Scotland this
year secure in the knowledge his wife is winning her battle
against her illness.

I read that he told the local rag that:-"I expect to be back
there this time, as well as the British Open.

Ryanair boss controversial again!

Depending on which tabloid you read the  whispers go the rounds
as many "reporters"  tell us that Ryanair are
definately/possibly/maybe going to introduce charges for using
the toilets on their flights. More of this on our blog...

Red card for red flag
=====================
In case you did not know you cannot swim in the sea in Spain if
there is a red flag flying. Recently a man was fined for swimming
in an Alicante beach minimum of 750EUR and maximum 1,500EUR.

The new law passed by Alicante City Hall makes it a fineable
offence to swim while the red flag is flying warning people of
dangers in the sea.  The red flag is launched by Red Cross
lifeguards when it is considered dangerous to be swimming in the
open sea.

Municipal reports stated that the authorities were simply trying
to extend a warning to the man in the sea that he should get out
but the man’s reported failure to heed their warnings claiming
that he would swim if he liked resulted in the fine.

Recovery of house prices
========================
Many of our golfers have property near many of the great golf
courses in the area and bought them when times were better.

They often ask what is happening regarding property prices here
as they see so many "Se vende" signs on houses and apartments
when travelling in this area.
