 October 2011
============
Welcome to month ten of Golf4ualicante newsletter 2011 with news and views from the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida.

As the month draws to a close we thank our lucky stars that we have enjoyed yet another great month of warmth and sunshine.
Which for the majority of our golfers booked in October it meant an enjoyable days golf in warm sunshine.
There may have been the odd drop of rain but really nothing compared to the weather we have been told about back in the UK.

The positive feedback written from our golfing groups has been greatly appreciated and the promises to tell friends and family of our service will assist in our business growing and growing.
Thanks everyone and if you wish to read some of these-please follow this link testimonial page

Check out some new pictures taken on the golf courses in October click here on the gallery page.

We have had several enquiries for 2012 and ask for your patience as some of the golf course do work under the work ethic " manana manana".
If you wish any information or to make an enquiry please send an email to lucy@golf4ualicante.com and we can put together a package to suit your visit to the Costa Blanca.

San Javier Airport to close-Yes/No?
===================================
Recently reported in the Costa Blanca News that the newly-revamped facility to be put out to grass .
COMMERCIAL flights from Murcia-San Javier airport are set to end - possibly as early as next year.

Murcia regional government announced on Tuesday 18th October that commercial operations will be terminated and the site will only be used as a military air base.
A spokesman claimed the new international airport at Corvera will operate all passenger flights in the Murcia region.

For us that live in Orihuela Costa this would mean a 45 minute journey to Alicante airport or approximately an hour to Corvera and we hope that this closure does not go ahead.

Despite the impending news - one must question if this will go ahead after reading that more than 60 million euros have been spent on updating facilities at San Javier, with a new runway and control tower inaugurated as part of the revamp.The terminal building was modernised with new check-in desks and a giant new petrol tank built.

However it has been stressed that no final decision had been made.

Busy Benidorm
===============
The good news continues as the sunshine remained strong in the sky well into this month.

Hotel occupancy in the first half of October in Benidorm has been 93.3%, an increase of 5.3% over the occupation recorded last year in this period.

There is significant occupation recorded in 4-star hotels, standing almost full at 94.2%, followed by 3-star hotels with occupancy of 92.6% and 95.3% of the 2-star premises.

Contrasting results for Murcia
In September the level of hotel occupancy was 43.64% ,two points lower than in the same month last year.
Unfortunately for Murcia the negative trend is in marked contrast with the figures for the country as a whole,where the figures rose to 61.75% compared with 58.3% last year.

Most hotel representatives blame the lack of promotion of the area for this downfall.

Figures are according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Islandic couple killed in crash near airport
An Islandic couple were killed when their van collided head-on with a coach near Alicante Airport last week (Thursday) afternoon.
Early reports said there were also 10 people injured in the accident, two of them seriously.

An eye witness reported that "There was a van that was leaving the airport in the direction of Santa Pola and the van driver tried to do a u-turn on a curve. They hit us on the right-hand side and we turned over onto the left."

Love story for Golfers
================
An elderly couple were having dinner one evening when the husband reached across the table, took his wife's hand in his and said, "Martha, soon we will be married 50 years, and there's something I have to know. In all of these 50 years, have you ever been unfaithful to me?"

Martha replied, "Well Henry, I have to be honest with you. Yes, I've been unfaithful to you three times during these 50 years, but always for a good reason.
Henry was obviously hurt by his wife's confession, but said, "I never suspected. Can you tell me what you mean by 'good reasons?'"
Martha said, "The first time was shortly after we were married, and we were about to lose our little house because we couldn't pay the mortgage. Do you remember that one evening I went to see the banker and the next day he notified you that the loan would be extended?"
Henry recalled the visit to the banker and said, "I can forgive you for that. You saved our home, but what about the second time?"

Martha asked, "And do you remember when you were so sick, but we didn't have the money to pay for the heart surgery you needed? Well, I went to see your doctor one night and, if you recall, he did the surgery at no charge."
I recall that," said Henry. "And you did it to save my life, so of course I can forgive you for that. Now tell me about the third time."

Alright," Martha said. "So do you remember when you ran for president of your golf club, and you needed 73 more votes....?"
