Happy New Year to one and all.
Welcome to our first newsletter from Golf4ualicante for 2012 bringing you news and golfing updates from this area.
We are fairly optimistic for the forthcoming year and thank everyone who gave us some great referrals which has helped bring in more enquiries for 2012 than we had this time last year.
TOP 100
If you have missed the golfing news- please note that excellent new golf course at Las Colinas which opened late 2010 has already made its way into the top 100 Golf Courses in Europe.
Whilst it maybe one of the most expensive in this area however for many it is one not to be missed.
The feedback about this golf course has been very positive and as we work closely with them regarding any opportunities for improvement which they take on board as they strive to move up this leader board.

Non resident property Owners
We have received an email from Abaco Lawyers who are offering to help with a letter which was sent to all non resident property owners.
Spain has a significant "economía sumergida" or black economy. This is the money that regularly changes hands without any portion of it finding its way to the government as tax. It is a problem and illegal at any time, but with the current economic difficulties, it is particularly urgent that it is addressed.
As a result, the Anti Fiscal Fraud Plan is gathering momentum. It was first launched in Spain in 2005 when companies were targeted. Now Spanish home owners are the focus of the campaign. Over 300,000 letters have been sent out to the owners of Spanish property who are not registered as having completed either a resident or non-resident tax declaration in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Please click on this link to AbacoConnect web site for more information.
From another accountant we received a little more information on 21/01/12-
Premises rent retention move up to 21%.
Non resident tax move up to 24,75€
Until 31/12/2012 new house VAT still 4%.

Costa Blanca Best Destination
==========================
Spanish tourism received a welcome boost last week with UK travel agents reporting a rise in interest and bookings to the country.
The news came when on Friday the Post Office revealed evidence that resort prices have gone down by as much as 40% compared to 5 years ago. That, combined with political unrest in some other popular tourist destinations and the fact that the pound is at a 2 year high against the euro has once again made Spain an affordable and favourite option.
The annual survey conducted by the Post Office measured the prices of 8 items in resorts across 33 destinations around the world. Those items included a cup of coffee in a bar or café; a bottle of local beer; a 1.5 litre bottle of water from a supermarket; a can of Coca-Cola; a three course evening meal for two adults; sunscreen; insect repellent and a pack of cigarettes. The results of the survey showed that Spain came out the second cheapest with an average price of £37.72 for the 8 items. It was topped only by Sri Lanka offering the best value at £27.95.
With people looking for a cheap way to enjoy fun in the sun and the Post Office currently offering a currency rate of 1.165€ to the pound (prices correct as of Friday 13th Jan.) it is thought a new wave of visitors will be enjoying the delights of Spain this year with the firm’s Holiday Money Report concluding: ‘Resort prices in Spain are now 40% lower than 5 years ago, when we conducted the first price barometer.
Turkey has in recent years been a serious rival to Spain's top status for bargain breaks but this year it proved to be 60% more expensive than Spain. This year, Turkey was17th in terms of the cheapest option according to the Post Office survey.
At the other end of the scale the survey showed Australia to be the most expensive country for the 8 items at a staggering £115.69, together with Barbados, Singapore and New Zealand. The biggest rises were recorded in Kenya, where the basket was 52% more expensive than last year and Portugal, where the increase was 39%.

Ola Golf No More
============
You may be aware that Polaris World have been in a bit of a financial crisis. Mar Menor and Saurines de la Torre on The Nicklaus Trail were managed for several months in 2011 by a company called Ola Golf.
The manager there had a degree of awareness that if he packaged the buggy with the green fees all year they would sell more and the revenues would be boosted ,he was proved to be correct as it became a more attractive deal for our golfers and our bookings at Mar Menor especially rose significantly.
Now we find that all the ex Polaris World Golf Courses are being managed by Global Golf who after 15th February cannot advise if they can offer a buggy inclusive deal.
It really astounds us when these golf courses have so much competition in this area from other who do offer these deals that Global appears to miss this opportunity for increased sales and profit.
We have advised many of our golfers that whilst we gave out the cost to play on these courses unfortunately due to this change in management it is unlikely we will be able to secure these old buggy deals.
