Villaitana Levante Golf

Villaitana Levante is a championship course of Nicklaus’ design.
This golf complex is located on the Terra Mitica park area just outside of the world famous holiday resort of Benidorm.
This great golf course has a Par of 72 and is 6222 metres from the white tees. This golf course is kept in fantastic condition all year round, its a must play when in the area.

It is more expensive than others but a cracking course
high season prices from 85€ buggies 35€.(March 2017)

Hole 1 Par 4, 368 Metres,
Standing on the tee high above the first fairway at Villaitana its plain to see that this is a true quality championship golf course. From the tee you can see two bunkers one left at about 164 metres and the other right at 233 metres, the fairway snakes right to left uphill between the bunkers and on up to the green. The most important thing to do with your tee shot here is to hit the fairway. Once on the fairway it can be a medium iron or rescue club up to the green. There are two bunkers round the green one short right and one centre back. The greens on this course hold the ball very well so its important to fly the front right bunker to land on the green which is about 30 metres long. The green its self slopes from back to front and can be a testing one.
Hole 2 Par 4, 349 Metres,
Again playing from a plateau tee this fairway snakes from left to right this time and the best line from the tee is up the left side of the fairway just short of the bunker out there at 248 metres from the tee. For the longer hitters out there you can opt to try and carry the fairway bunker out to your right, this will reduce the length of your second shot by about 40 metres. The down side should you choose this line is that the front edge of this bunker is 207 metres from the tee and the bunker is another 30 metres long, so it takes a long hit to clear it. Once at your ball more decisions to make, go for the green or play safe up the right hand side of the fairway. If you opt to go for the green watch out for the bunker about 20 metres short left. There are two more bunkers to contend with, one built into the bank at the back of the green and one out you the right. This green slopes from back to front with a deep gully through the middle and is about 32 metres long, par at this tricky par 4 is always good.
Hole 3 Par 3, 180 Metres,
This par three is played from an elevated tee and as you look down to this large green it not only looks fantastic but is also a great test of your golfing skills. Club choice here is all important if you want to make an easy par. From the tee there is a carry of about 110 metres to the fairway and there is plenty of room up the left side should you decide not to go for the green. The difficulty with this tee shot is that to get close to the pin you must carry the huge deep bunker cut into the right side of the green and also miss the small bunker back right. This green is three tiered from back to front and is about 33 metres long. If you miss the green to your left you still have a good chance of getting up and down to make par.
Hole 4 Par 5, 452 Metres,
This par five is a tough hole and you will need all of your skills to avoid not only the fairway bunkers but the out of bounds up the left hand side of the fairway. I would recommend that this hole be played as a true par five and you should be looking to land on the green in three well hit shots, this hole is stroke index 2 on your score card. From the tee its your driver and the best line is down the left hand side of this wide fairway, out to your right you have a series of three bunkers that come into play at about 183 metres from the tee and cover about 48 metres so as I said down the middle left is the best line. To your left you have one bunker at about 255 metres from the tee and its only about 10 metres long, but never the less you don’t want to land in it. Once at your tee shot you will find that the fairway slopes down hill towards a series of bunkers then climbs slightly to the putting surface. The best line for your second shot is down the middle just short of the four bunkers that cover the middle right side of this green. For the longer hitter out there the best line is down the left hand side of the fairway, but watch out for the two bunkers cut into the left edge of the fairway at about 100 metres short of the green. If you opt to play safe down the middle with your second shot you will be left with a tricky third shot as you will have to come over the bunkers to land on a every challenging green. If playing from the left side of the fairway you will be faced with a nice open shot up the green to attack the pin and have a chance of a birdie. This green if you go past the pin can be rather tricky to put on as it slopes quite steeply from back left to front right and there are a few other slopes to contend with. One last point, there is also one small but nasty bunker at the back of this green for any shots hit to long.
Hole 5 Par 4, 339 Metres,
Good news this hole plays much easier than the last, from the tee this fairway is quite wide and uphill for the first part of it. Two things to watch out for here!!! yes the fairway bunkers one right at about 176 metres and the other left and out of sight at about 219 metres from the tee. It sounds like its a tough tee shot but the fairway here is wide but does narrow down at about 100 metres from the green. As this is not a long hole the best advice I can give you is play short of the bunkers and leave a slightly longer second shot up to the green. As you walk up the fairway you will find as many of the holes on this great golf course do that although the hole is straight the fairway tends to snake between the bunkers from tee to green.Your second shot here is uphill to a green that has three large bunkers just short left and one more back right. It takes a well hit shot here to get close to the pin as this green is at an angel to you from the fairway, however you can play safe and go for the front right had edge which will take the bunkers out of play. If you do this and the pin is cut to your back left you could have a put of about 30 metres.
Hole 6 Par 4, 384 Metres,
Played from a high tee position you play down onto this generous fairway, the only trouble from the tee here is the two bunkers out to your right at about 210 metres from the tee, so your best line here is down the middle left. Again the fairway snakes and twists its way downhill then up to a plateau green. There is one bunker out to your left at about 50 metres short of the green with two more around the green, one short right side and the other back left. It takes a good shot to get close to the pin as the green slopes severely from back to front so par at this one is always a good score. If you go long and right at this hole there is a well cut grassy area which you can pitch back from to make par.
Hole 7 Par 3, 192 Metres,
Now for the first of five holes on this golf course with water features. From the tee you have two options the first being go for the pin and fly straight over the water. If you choose this direct line and miss hit the ball, yes you will be in the water or in the green side bunker to the middle left of the green. Option two is play safe out to your right as this hole is shaped as a dog leg from right to left and there is plenty of room out to your right. The perfect shot from the tee at this hole is a nice draw into the middle of this 40 metre green which slopes from right to left, one last point watch out for one more bunker cut into the bank at the back middle section of the green. Par at this one is always a good score at stroke index 8 on your score card.
Hole 8 Par 5, 528 Metres,
Again this hole is quite straight but the fairway twists and turns between the fairway bunkers all the way uphill to the green. At about 182 metres from the tee there is one bunker out to your left with one more that starts at 209 metres on your right. The best line from the tee at this hole is smack bang down the middle. For the longer hitters the best line is to fly over the bunker to your right which is about a 244 metre carry, this will give you a large kick forward and get your ball well down this fairway. This fairway is quite wide and slopes down hill then starts to climb up to the green from about 150 metres. This hole is all about keeping your ball on the fairway and playing your way through, round or over the bunkers to give your self the best chance possible to make par. There are three other bunkers on the edge of the fairway one at about 200 metres short left of the green, one at about 100 metres again short left and the last one is about 50 metres short right. The safe play with your second shot here is up the right hand side of the fairway however for the longer hitter out there you should be able to reach this green with a well hit 3 or 4 iron played with a nice draw which will take the two pot bunkers to your left out of play. This green is quite flat to put on and is about 30 metres long from front to back, par here is always a good score. In my opinion this is a great par 5 and is stroke index 6 on your score card.
Hole 9 Par 4, 368 Metres,
This is yet another fantastic par 4 over water from the tee then uphill towards the clubhouse. This fairway again snakes its way up to the green. Out to your right there is a steep hillside and further to your right you will find the first fairway. To your left there is a bunker at about 182 metres from the tee, if you do go left its about a 202 metre carry to find the fairway at the other side of this bunker. The best line from the tee is up the right middle side of the fairway as the steep bank will help kick your ball back to the middle of the fairway. This hole from the tee looks like it plays as a slight dog leg from left to right but if you hit a good straight tee shot you will be left will a nice straight shot to the green. There are two more bunkers up the left side of this wide fairway one at about 248 metres from the tee and the other 50 metres short left of the green. It takes a well hit shot to get close to the pin on this green as it is normally tucked in behind the large bunker cut into the front right hand edge. Also if you do decide to attack the pin watch out for the nasty pot bunker through the back middle of the green. The safe line with your approach shot here is up to the front left side of the green, there is a nice bank that will kick your ball down onto this large flat green. Par at this one should be easy at stroke index 16 on your score card.
Hole 10 Par 4, 380 Metres,
This is one of these great long dog leg holes that favour the brave from the tee. As you look down the fairway you will see one bunker out to your right at about 140 metres from the tee that shouldn’t come into play if you hit a good drive. But saying that you also have two more bunkers, one left the other right at about 200 metres from the tee. This sound a bit scary but in actual fact this fairway is very wide and the best line from the tee is at the sand stone coloured building out to your right at the top of the hill. The perfect tee shot here is at that building on the hill with a slight draw so your ball chases down the fairway towards the green. The one place you don’t want to go on this hole is down over the bunker to your left as there is a large water hazard hidden from the tee behind it. If you are lucky enough to miss the water you will have a much more difficult second shot as you will have to play over the water hazard to land on the green. Once at your ball you will see that the water hazard runs all the way down the left side of the fairway up to the edge of the green, you will also see one small pot bunker about 20 metres to the right of the green and one more through the back of this green. This green is about 24 metres deep and gently slopes from back to front. One last thing about this hole it plays as stroke index 1 on your score card.
Hole 11 Par 5, 479 Metres,
This par 5 is in my opinion the toughest one on this golf course although its only stroke index 7 on your score card. It plays uphill from the tee all the way to the green. From the tee you will see two bunkers one left at about 142 metres and the other right at 169 metres from the yellow tee, to carry the one to your right its about 182 metres. The best line from the tee is just right of centre or over the bunker to the right. Once on the fairway you will see one further bunker right at about 125 metres short of the green. The best line with your second shot is up the middle left side, this fairway is quite wide and three well hit shots should see you on the green. As you approach this green you will see that the whole of the right side is protected by one very large bunker and at about 20 metres from the front edge of the green there is a small pot bunker on the fairway which you don’t want to land in. This green is a tricky one to putt one if you go past the pin as it slopes from back right to front left and there are many humps and bumps to contend with. Par at this hole is always a great score.
Hole 12 Par 3, 185 Metres,
This par three is classed at stroke index 3 on your score card and rightly so as it takes a well hit shot to find the putting surface. To your right there are a cluster of bunkers protecting this green, there is also one pot bunker middle back edge that you want to avoid. For those of you that don’t want to take the green on there is plenty of room out to your left to play safe and leave a short easy pitch up to the pin. This green is about 31 metres long and quite flat.
Hole 13 Par 4, 324 Metres,
Standing on the tee this par 4 will take all your wits and skills to navigate your way past the fairway bunkers, also avoiding the lake to your right. This hole plays as a dog leg left to right with a more than generous fairway to land on. However there are three very well placed bunkers spread across the fairway. The one to the right edge near the lake is about a carry of 182 metres from the tee, the very well placed one in the middle of the fairway is a carry of 200 metres and the one to your left is about 60 metres short of the putting surface. You have two options from the tee the first being go for broke and chance your luck and keep your fingers crossed that you miss all three bunkers and the second option is to play short of the trouble and leave a full 9 iron or wedge into the green. This fairway slopes from left to right so it make your second shot a bit more tricky to hit as 9 times out of ten you will be standing above the ball. There is one bunker protecting the front left side of this green with one more small bunker to the back of the green. If the pin is cut to the front edge this brings in not only the bunker to the left but also the lake. The safe play here is aim for the middle of the green, this green is fairly flat and about 32 metres deep.
Hole 14 Par 3, 124 Metres,
I think this is the easiest hole on the golf course, it plays uphill and has a rather large green that slopes towards the tee. A well hit shot could be rewarded with a good birdie chance or an easy par. There are four bunkers on this hole one about 20 metres short right one front left and two at the back of the green. If you miss the green pin high right you should still have a good chance of getting up and down as there is plenty of room to the right with no trouble.
Hole 15 Par 4, 344 Metres,
This par 4 plays slightly uphill to the green and your best line from the tee here is down the middle or just right of centre. Down the left side there is one bunker that measures 54 metres and comes into play from the tee at about 160 metres, you need to miss this one if you want to make the putting surface in two shots. Out to the right at 80 metres short of the green there is another bunker that could come into play for the longer hitters. As you approach the green you will see that there is a cluster of bunkers short left and if the pin is cut to the front of the green will come into play as the entrance to this one is quite tight. This green measures 26 metres and is fairly wide towards the middle back, but can be tricky to put on. If you miss out to the right side of this green there is still a good chance of making par with a good pitch and a put.
Hole 16 Par 5, 497 Metres,
Now for another long par 5, but if played well could reward you with the chance of a birdie. The fairway all the way to the green is generous but from the tee there is one bunker out to the right that you need to miss at about 221 from the yellow tee. This bunker measures 21 metres so it takes a very good hit to clear it from the tee. The best line from the tee is up the middle left side. At about 277 metres from the yellow tee there is also a cluster of bunkers left in the semi-rough, so watch out you big hitters. Once on the fairway the best line for your second shot is again up the left side as there are two bunkers in the rough to your right about 70 metres short of the green. It takes a good shot to get close to this pin as it is normally tucked in behind the large deep green side bunker to the left. This green lies at an angle to you and there are yet another two bunkers to the back of the green. All in all a very good golfing hole.
Hole 17 Par 4, 359 Metres,
Now for the home run, from the tee you will see that this fairway is very wide however there is one long bunker in the middle left side of the fairway that you need to avoid. It is a shallow bunker and starts at about 136 metres from the yellow tee and is 53 metres long so it takes a very good strike to clear it. The best line from the tee is a well placed tee shot up the right side of the fairway which will give you a good line into the pin. As you approach the green you will see that the fairway starts to narrow and about 70 metres short right of the green there is another well placed bunker. Up at the green side there are two more bunkers one small one left and one larger long one covering the right side. This green is 31 metres long and the best place to aim at is the centre as its at its widest at this point. Par at this hole is always good as it plays as stroke index 5 on your score card.
Hole 18 Par 4, 374 Metres,
As you come down to the last tee you will see that there is a small water hazard down below the tee. This is a good par 4 to finish of your round on this excellent golf course. The carry over the water hazard is only about 100 metres, but it still takes a well hit shot to find this wide fairway. The best line from the tee is down the middle left hand side but watch out for the bunker out there as its only 144 metres from the tee and does come into play. This fairway twists and turns all the way up to the green and there are only two other fairway bunkers up the right hand edge of the semi-rough, one at 120 metres short of the green and one at 70 metres short of the green. The safe play with your second shot on this hole is up the right as this will take the green side bunker cut into the left of the green out of play. There are a few trees up the left side of this fairway but will only come into play with a wild hit shot to the left. This green is only 29 metres long and slopes from back edge to the front where it is quite flat. If you hit your second shot through the back of this green you will still have a very good chance of making par to finish with. This hole is stroke index 11 on your score card.

On this resort there is also a 62 par Executive Golf Course. There are two hotels one 4 and one 5 star.
