My friends both in Spain and the UK and I have supported and played this wonderful golf course when there were only eleven holes. We at golf4ualicante.com have over the last 7 years taken many customers up to Vistabella golf as an add-on to their holiday, the quality of the golf course and the great service from the friendly staff are second to none, and they all enjoyed the experience. Now we have a full 18 holes to play at Vistabella I would highly recommend this golf course to any golfer, Its simply a wonderful place to golf with 18 holes to enjoy in the sun with friends and its a course designed for all levels of player. As a category one player I think this is one of the best golf
course in our area and my friends here all agree, their handicaps range from 16 to 22, it’s a must play when in our part of Alicante.

Hole 1 Par 4, 280 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Standing on the tee you look down onto the fairway and you can see the green in the distance tucked into the left side of the fairway. The best line from the tee is just right of centre this will open the green up for a short approach shot over the green side bunker to the right. For the longer hitters of the ball you need to watch out for the huge bunker over the mound down the left side of this fairway as it will come into play from the tee. The best tee shot here is a long iron or rescue club to keep short of all the bunkers. The green is protected by one small bunker to the left front edge and one very large bunker to the right side of the green. If the pin is cut close to the front edge of the green make sure you hit the putting surface as anything short will land on a steep slope and roll back down away from the green. This green is very long and wide with many different borrows and slope to contend with. This is a good birdie chance if played well, it’s a great opening hole.

Hole 2 Par 3, 143 Metres from Yellow Tee.
From the first green follow the signs down to your right and through the tunnel and up to your right to the all new second tee and NEW 7 HOLES, They are simply fantastic in my opinion. From a high vantage point on the 2nd tee you look down at the putting surface.Down the left side of this wide fairway there are a few palm tree’s and out to the right side you have out of bounds. There is only one bunker on this hole but what a great position it has been placed in, smack bang middle to middle right just short of this very wide green. If the pin is cut to the middle or middle right its a tough tee shot for any player to get close to this pin. If you are lucky enough to have a stroke at this one play safe down the left side of the fairway, this will leave a nice pitch up to the pin avoiding the bunker. I would say from the tee have a go at hitting this very wide green, its better to be long than short as there is no trouble at the back of this green. This green slops from back to front right where that big bunker I told you about is located. Its also quite a narrow green and about 40 passes wide. The Ideal tee shot her is to be short of the pin but as close as you can as there are many slops to challenge you and also different levels with big swinging puts, its a very well designed short par 3.

Hole 3 Par 5, 472 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Yet another fantastic par 5, standing on an elevated tee you can see the green in the distance, its downhill all the way.
This is the first chance to open your shoulders and go for a big drive on this rather wide fairway and maybe make good par or birdie. Down the right side of the fairway you have out of bounds and some rough ground and down the left palm trees and thick semi rough. Best line from the tee is middle left and the sensible play at this lovely hole is to play three nice shots and play the hole as you see it. Further down the left side of this fairway at about 280 metres the fairway narrows and there is a well placed bunker for the longer hitters of the ball, if you land in this bunker you will not make the putting surface from there. Also this fairway has many slopes and undulations to test you with so there aren’t many flat lies to play from which makes hitting a good shot more difficult. Going back to the right side of this fairway there is quite a lot of waste ground, if you land on this the ball will go a long way but very hard to play your next shot from. Only other thing to watch out for with the second shot is the bunker at about 140 Metres short right of the green, so look to place a well hit second shot down the middle left side of the fairway. Now for the young Tiger Woods out there this green can be hit with two good shots, but watch out for the bunker left side of the fairway which is about 50 Metres short of the putting surface. Also just behind this bunker you will find a rather large water hazard that wraps it’s self almost all the way around this tricky green. The entrance to this green is narrow and there is another well placed deep bunker cut into the front right side of this green, you don’t want to fly this or you will find the water hazard. At the front left of the green there are a few humps and bumps which you need to avoid as they are designed to draw the ball over and into the water, if you are lucky the ball might stick in the thick semi rough on the bank. The putting surface is classic Vistabella with many slope and levels to challenge you. This is a wonderful Par 5 and really should be played as such, the choice is yours.

Hole 4 Par 4, 296 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Yes and yet another wonderful golfing hole at Vistabella, just a joy to play.
Standing on the tee above the fairway you can see the green in the distance and the large lake in front of you WOW.
This hole plays as a dog leg left and is best played this way, if you hit your tee shot straight down the middle you will have to play over the lake to get to the putting surface. Down the right side of this fairway there is out of bounds all the way and left is a NO NO, so best tee shot here is a rescue club or medium iron just right of the centre of this wide fairway. Its not a long par 4 and I would say 90 percent of golfers will have to clear the hazard to find this green. So it will take two well hit shots and also well placed shots to find the putting surface, for the brave you can hit driver down this hole but it needs to be a long draw out towards the out of bounds but hook the ball and you will find the hazard. Over the lake and up to this green you will find one bunker out to the left side and one huge bunker to the right which make the entrance to this green very narrow. This green slopes from back left to front right and there are also many defferent levels to contend with once on this rather large putting surface. Everything about this great golfing hole has been designed to kick your ball into trouble if slightly of line with your driver or second shot up to the green. Its Ok to play long with your second shot at this hole as there is a steep bank around the back of the green that will grab the ball, only down side to hitting long is the ball will nestle down in the thick semi rough.
(Stroke Index 13 on Score Card)

Hole 5 Par 5, 462 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Standing on the tee at this long tough par 5 you can only see the first part of this wide fairway as it’s a dog leg to your left. The first 210 metres of this wide fairway plays slightly uphill then the remainder of this hole has quite a steep climb up to the front edge of the green. Also this faiway slopes from left to right side just to make it more of a challenge, its a very well designed golfing hole. Also left side from the tee all the way up to this green you will find palm tree’s, thick rough and many slopes both up and down, so steer clear of the left and don’t cut the corner or you could be in trouble. Up the right side of this fairway you will find out of bounds, a few palm trees and one large bunker that can come into play for the longer hitters with a driver. The ideal line from the tee is just inside the fairway bunker out to the right or just staight up the middle as always. As you approch this very large green you will find one bunker cut into the hillside left about 100 metres short of the front edge. Although this is a large green it has quite a narrow entrance to it, and is very well protected by bunkers front middle and all of the right side, if you should clear these bunkers right you could find out of bounds. Up the left side of this green you will find only tree’s and thick rough so its the safer side to be should you miss the putting surface or long is Ok. This green is quite elevated so it can be quite a tricky pitch to get close to the pin as there are many levels and slopes to negotiate, I think this is another great golf hole at Vistabella and a joy to play.
(Stroke Index 3 on Score Card)

Hole 6 Par 4, 388 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Now for a tough par 4 and stroke Index 1, from a high vantage point on the tee you can see this hole plays as a dog leg to your right and again its not worth trying to cut the corner. Down the right side you have out of bounds along with trees and uneven terrain to contend with so steer clear. The best line with driver is at the bunker down the left side of this more than generous fairway, or straight down the middle this will open up the green for your long second shot. Once down this fairway almost all second shots will be played from a down hill lie which makes it more of a challenge to play a good shot and find the putting surface. I would say the best way to play your second shot at this tough hole is just knock the ball short left to leave a short pitch up onto the green. The problem taking this green on in two is the deep bunker front right and the steep slope just in front of this rather small green which also has a narrow entrance. You can go long and left but this side has many small tree’s and thick rough, not the best place to be. There is a bank through the back of this green which will hold your ball but will leave a very dificult shot down hill to this small green and you could end up in that bunker front right. This green have two levels to it and slopes towards the bunker, so if you have a shot a this hole play for a 5 and get a net 4.
(Stroke Index 1 on Score Card)

Hole 7 Par 3, 164 Metres from Yellow Tee.
From an elevated tee this green is straight in front of you and is probably the easiest par three on this golf course.
There are no bunkers on this hole and there is a bank that goes all the way from the front left side of the green all the way around to the front right side. There are a number of trees on this bank along with that thick tricky semi rough to contend with. Beware that a tee shot blocked out to the right might find water from the back of the third green.
Its just a case of good club selection at this par 3 and making good contact with the ball. Even if you should come up short of this green the ball might still get a shoot forward and onto the putting surface. This green is very large and slopes from back to front left edge, so the seacret here is hit the tee shot as close as possible to make par.
(Stroke Index 9 on Score Card)

Hole 8 Par 4, 357 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Ok back in the buggy and follow the signs up to the 8th tee, you can see that this hole plays as quite a sharp dog leg to the right and yes its a very good par 4. From the tee this hole is uphill all the way to the green, the best line with driver is middle left avoiding the bunkers on the dog leg middle right side of this generous fairway. The Tiger line for the bold is straight up the right hand side of the semi rough which is to the right of the buggy path, however if you block your tee shot you could be out of bounds and if up the buggy path line you will kick back down into the  bunkers. Once at your perfect tee shot up the left side of the fairway you can see its quite a steep incline to this tricky green. There is only one big bunker cut into the middle right side of this green so if you can’t reach the putting surface in two play left as its quite open to leave a nice pitch across to the pin. Again when playing uphill take an extra club as its all carry with no real trouble at the back of this green. The putting surface it’s self is two tiered, higher at the back and lower to the front with a steep slope in the middle, but you also have to contend with the different borrows on both levels. Simply a tough test of golf to make par at this lovely golf hole.
(Stroke Index 7 on Score Card)

Hole 9 Par 4, 356 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This tee is quite well set back from the fairway and it takes a good solid hit to carry the ball over the desert area and into a good position. Up the right side there are two large mounds you want to avoid, the best line from the tee is just to the left of them. Watch out for the fairway bunker up the left hand side as a hook from the tee could find this one. The hole plays all uphill to the green and is a slight dog leg right. Once in a good position from the tee its decision time, have a go at the pin and carry over the large round shaped bunker onto the putting surface or go for the left hand side of this large green and potentially leave a long put to the pin (It’s worth while to go up and have a look to see where the pin position is on the day). This green is in my opinion the most testing green on the course because of the many different levels and slopes to contend with. Par at this hole is a very good score.
(Stroke Index 5 on Score Card)

Hole 10 Par 5, 484 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This hole is a great Par 5 to start the back nine holes with and from this high tee you can see the green some 484 metres away in the distance it’s AWESOME. From a high vantage point you play over a desert area with an assortment of rocks, bushes and small trees, down the hill to a wide open fairway, most tee shots that are slightly of line will come back to the middle of this fairway. Watch out for the two huge fairway bunker right side of the fairway at about 280 metres from the tee as they can come into play for the longer hitters off the ball. This fairway has many dips and hollows all the way down to the large lake about 120 metres from the green. The fairway follows the lake round to the right hand side of the green and all the way around the back of the green. For your second shot the best line is down the left side of the fairway with a well placed lay up shot. This will give you a short iron onto the putting surface avoiding the lake and the very well placed bunker on the waters edge about 40 metres short left of the green. For the brave golfers out there you can have a go at the green with your second shot but there is danger all around this green and it takes a great shot to stop the ball on this medium sized green. There are two more desert areas on this hole one just short of the lake and one more just short of the green. The lake guards the whole of the front of the green, the right side and all the way round to the back of the green, so don’t go long. There is also one well placed bunker cut into the front middle of the green which comes very much into play if you are down the right hand side of this fairway. This hole should be played as a true par 5,taking three good shots to find the putting surface. As with all the greens at Vistabella golf course, they are very demanding on your putting stroke but a real Joy to putt on.
(Stroke Index 2 on Score Card)

Hole 11 Par 3, 160 Metres from Yellow Tee.
From an elevated tee this hole is a good test for one of your long irons or wood as its all carry to the putting  surface. There is a desert area well short of the green but its easy to play from should you land in it. As with most par three’s club choice is the key, and a well hit shot of course. This green is well guarded by bunkers one large middle front left, one deep bunker 10 metres short Centre, this is a must carry shot. The safe play is up the right side of this hole which will leave a nice pitch and run up to the putting surface. This green is two tiered with many challenging slopes to contend with, very good par 3.
(Stroke Index 6 on Score card)

Hole 12 Par 4, 288 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This is a short par 4 but from the tee it takes a good straight drive to find this narrow fairway. The only trouble from the tee is the large bunker down the right side of the fairway, it comes into play from the tee. There are two more fairway bunkers down the left side of the fairway about 60 metres short of the green. This green is protected by one huge bunker short right and one small bunker short left. This is a two tiered green that slopes from back to front and has many different borrows on it.
(Stroke Index 18 on Score Card)

Hole 13 Par 4, 297 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This is a fantastic looking golf hole from an elevated tee. Looking down onto the fairway you will see you have quite a large fairway to play to however look to the right side and you will see one very large water hazard that runs from the start of the fairway up to about 60 metres short of the green. Also on the right side of the fairway just past the water hazard you have one very large bunker to contend with and this can come into play from the tee (A very well hit ball will carry over this bunker). The best line from the tee is down the left hand side avoiding all the trouble. This fairway slopes uphill to the green with many undulations on the fairway so take one extra club to make the putting surface with your second shot. To the front left side of this green you have only one large bunker to carry if coming in from that side of the fairway. This green again can be testing to put on depending on the pin position on the day you play the course.
(Stroke Index 12 on Score Card)

Hole 14 Par 5, 485 Metres from Yellow Tee.
Yet another great looking golf hole at Vistabella golf and at stroke index 1 it’s no push over either. This long par 5 should be played in three stages, stage one find the fairway with your drive avoiding the bunker up the left side of this wide fairway. The best line from a platform tee is straight at the bunkers in front of you down the right side. From this point you have two options with your second shot, option one go for the green over a large mound, desert area and carry the front green side bunker (This takes a great strike to find the green), option two play round the horse shoe shaped narrow fairway avoiding the fairway bunkers on both sides. Once in the ideal fairway position you should only have a medium to short iron to the green. This green is quite wide and if the pin is tucked in behind the front green side bunker can make it rather tricky to get close to. Again this is another two tiered green with many different slopes, borrows and run off areas so par at this hole is a great score.
(Stroke Index 4 on Score Card)

Hole 15 Par 3, 167 Metres from Yellow Tee.
From a plateau tee you stand above the green, this is a nice looking par 3 and a good solid tee shot should be rewarded with an easy par. Watch out for the two desert areas at this hole one to the left and one to the right, its worth mentioning that you can ground your club if you land in these areas. There is one sandy bunker short right, but there is also a dip just in front of the green so make sure you take plenty of club to reach this green, it can be a deceptive tee shot. The green is large and wide but again can be tricky to make a two put if putting from a distance.
(Stroke Index 8 on Score Card)

Hole 16 Par 4, 332 Metres from Yellow Tee.
From an elevated tee you get a good view of this longer par 4 and what lies ahead of you. Its driver from the tee to this wide open fairway, there are two bunkers at driving distance one to the left the other to your right to catch any wayward drives from the tee. At about 100 metres from the front of the green you have a large water hazard to the left, it shouldn’t come into play but its there waiting on any bad shot pulled short and left. The buggy path crosses the fairway just short of this green and can help a bad shot land on the green. The safe line with your second shot being all uphill is to the right side of this green as there are two large bunkers waiting to collect your ball if hit left of the green. Its worth having a look to see where the pin position is on the day you play, as this green is two tiered and if your second shot is not close to the hole you could be looking at another three putt.
(Stroke Index 16 on Score Card)

Hole 17 Par 4, 272 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This maybe a short par 4 uphill but its one you need to get off to a good start at. Your tee shot is over the water hazard and onto the fairway, the best line is just right of centre. There is one very large bunker just over the water to the left side of the fairway to catch any stray tee shots. There is one more bunker in the semi rough to your right, a well hit tee shot should carry over this one and leave you with a good line into the pin. Once you walk across the bridge to the fairway you will find it has many dips and hollows which will appear to make your second shot look shorter than it really is ( It’s worth while going up to the green for a quick look). From the centre of the fairway you will have to carry the ball all the way to the putting surface over two bunkers, one about 30 metres short of the green the other covering the left hand side, there is also one more on the right side. This green is long, narrow and three tiered with many interesting slopes (This green slopes from back to front). This is a good birdie chance if played well.
(Stroke Index 14 on Score Card)

Hole 18 Par 4, 343 Metres from Yellow Tee.
This longer par 4 up hill all the way to the green may be stroke index 10 on the score card but its a great finishing hole to any golf course and a par here is always welcome. This hole plays as a slight dog leg to the right but as always the best line from the tee is straight up the middle. The tee is set behind the first green and it takes a good drive here to clear quite a large desert area to find the first cut of the fairway. Up the right side of the fairway there are palm trees and way left there is one bunker that comes into play from the tee if you pull you’r drive. The best line from the tee is just right of centre, this will leave you a medium iron onto the green. At the corner of the dog leg there is one bunker way out to the left and there is also a cluster of bunkers to the right which come into play for golfers that hit a long drive, trust me I have been in them many times. As you approach the green you will find one bunker at about 20 metres short left of the green and to the right one about 30 metres short, but there is one more bunker that eats into the front right side of this green and also covers most of the right side. As I said it takes a good strike to get close to the pin with your second shot at this testing hole. The green its self is very tricky and demands all of your concentration as there are many run off areas to the back and left side of the green. There are also many long swinging putts on this one so par is a great score here.
