Roda golf club is only approximately 30 minutes from the new Murcia International Airport and a mere 5 minutes from Los Acazares coastal town and twenty five minutes from the hotels and bars at Cabo Roig and La Zenia
It has a par of 72 and at 6177 metres its a great test of golf for all handicaps.
The fairways are wide and well cut which makes it easier to hit good shots from. There are 54 bunkers on the course all well placed for catching your drives or wayward second shots to the greens. There are also a few very nice water features on this course.

Hole 1 Par 5, 500 Metres,
This is a good opening hole with a wide open fairway designed to encourage positive attitude from the start. The bunker on the right hand corner of this dog leg right can be carried depending upon individual ability or played safely down the middle left. The elevated green is defined by the large bunker to the left hand side which extends down the fairway, making choice for the second shot important in the strategy of the hole. A well placed second shot down the right will open up the green and result in a good birdie chance to start your round of with.

Hole 2 Par 3, 207 Metres,
This is a long and exacting par 3 early on in the round. A large bunker covers most of the middle right hand side of this large green and again an elevated green means it is important for a well struck iron shot. Flag placements to the left of the green will look generous from the tee, although the flag can be placed to the right side and look daunting next to the bunker.

Hole 3 Par 4, 410 Metres,
This is the first of two very demanding back to back par 4’s. An exacting drive is required between bunkers both left and right to an elevated landing area. A medium to long iron approach shot to the raised platform green will be difficult for the amateur player particularly as the green is guarded by a very deep bunker to the left. While a good player will be drawn to attacking the hole, the handicap player requires strategy.

Hole 4 Par 4, 404 Metres,
This hole requires an accurate tee shot from an elevated tee, its necessary to find the fairway at this one if you want to hit the green in two. Again, the landing area is protected with two bunkers which must be negotiated accurately. For your second shot you will need a long to medium iron and must negotiate large bunkers in front of the green on the right hand side. The flag positions at this one can be tucked in behind the bunker on the right and make life difficult to get close to the pin because of the roles on the green, making this the hardest hole on the first nine holes.

Hole 5 Par 5, 442 Metres,
This is a relatively short par 5 and a good birdie opportunity. From the tee a good drive must negotiate safely past the big bunker on the left hand side. This will open up the green and encourage an attacking second or third shot for birdie opportunities. Make sure you carry onto the putting surface as any thing short of the green will kick right.

Hole 6 Par 4, 370 Metres,
This is a good straight hole with everything there to see from the tee. It is important to hit the fairway as the green is surrounded by deep bunkers to the front and sides and role off valley to the back of the green. Although only a short par 4 it will have interesting challenges depending on the flag position.

Hole 7 Par 3, 174 Metres,
This is a great par 3 with a very large wide island green slopping from back to front designed to intimidate and entice you from the tee. A medium to short iron is required at this one and you must hit the green there is nowhere to hide here, accuracy is everything. The chance to put this in front of the clubhouse for the amusement and entertainment of those watching was too good an opportunity to miss. Enjoy.

Hole 8 Par 4, 328 Metres,
This is a relatively easy par 4 with little trouble from the tee. However, all the problems are with the undulating green and the deep pot bunker front right and back left waiting to catch missed approach shots.

Hole 9 Par 4, 393 Metres,
This is a truly classic golf hole design to complete the first 9 holes. The green can be seen from the distance, placed between mounds, bunkers and deep rough zone however you must ignore the flag and play down the middle left, the only trouble from the tee is the two pot bunkers on the right hand side. The undulating green will provide interesting flag positions and also watch out for the deep large bunker cut into the right side of this green. Watch out also for the lake which sneaks into the left hand side of the green, if ignored it could be a potential hazard.

Hole 10 Par 5, 441 Metres,
The second nine holes is less aggressively mounded, although the same philosophy of play is relevant; aggressive and positive play will provide rewards. The open tee shot to this hole is generous with only a big bunker and out of bounds to the left being the golfers only problem. However, the second and third shot become increasingly difficult with the several bunkers designed to catch inaccurate shots. A good opening hole to the back nine with birdies a real possibility.

Hole 11 Par 3, 180 Metres,
From the tee its a medium iron to an elevated green there is a very large bunker which covers the front and left side of this large green. The platform green is designed to help hold the tee shot, but any slight miss hit shots will role away to the back and right hand side of this green. A good par 3.

Hole 12 Par 4, 323 Metres,
This is a great par 4 with the green placed out into the lake front right and round the back. Watch out for the bunker cut into the right side of this green. Make sure your drive is down the middle left at this hole. Aggressive play may give as many birdies as disasters. Strategy may be the best approach for this hole.

Hole 13 Par 3, 157 Metres,
Yet another great par 3 straight forward in which accuracy and club selection is important for success. Not a very long par 3 which should encourage attacking play although care must be taken when the flag is placed near the waters edge to the right. This green is long and slops from back to front so will hold a well struck shot.

Hole 14 Par 4, 320 Metres,
This is a relatively straight forward par 4. A good drive to a generous fairway will leave the shortest of approach shots to the elevated green. The only trouble on this hole is the bunker on the left side of the green which is slightly elevated.

Hole 15 Par 4, 300 Metres,
Another short par 4 which can be played strategically with an iron off the tee to a generous fairway or hit it long down the right and this will give you a good view of the green. Again the elevated green may make it tricky but certainly birdies are a real opportunity at this one.

Hole 16 Par 4, 358 Metres,
Accuracy off the tee is important on this hole as the landing area is quite narrow to the left with a large bunker which is in driving range. From the tee the best line into this green is down the right side this will give you a good view for your second shot. The green is large but guarded by two bunkers to the front, although club selection is important as the lake awaits for an over hit on the second shot.

Hole 17 Par 4, 384 Metres,
This hole is a relatively straight forward par 4 in which two good shots will give a birdie chance .From the tee watch out for the large flat bunker up the left hand side of the fairway as if you catch them it makes hitting the green with your second more difficult. The green is quite large and undulating, it is also guarded by a bunker on the left hand side.

Hole 18 Par 5, 486 Metres,
This is a fantastic par 5 to finish the golf course with. The tee shot must be played between two bunkers to a narrow landing area, however for the long hitters if you can hit it past the right hand fairway bunker it will give you a chance to hit this green in two with a long iron or rescue club and make eagle or a good birdie. The best line from the tee is straight down the middle this will give you a good view for your second shot. Once at your drive the choice is all yours !!! Do I go for the green or play short of this very large lake decision decision ?
A great match play hole to finish in which strategy becomes an important part of the way you play
